Origin of Stone Muse

Under the Tuscan sun, the sunlight filtered through layers of rock, casting a faint golden glow. This is the origin of Stonemuse. In 1998, Luca Moretti, a third-generation stonemason in his family, stumbled upon an extraordinary piece of travertine in his workshop. Its veins twisted and curved, like a scattered starry sky, and after being hand-polished, it emanated a fluid luster that shifted with light and shadow.

"Stone should be more than just a cold building material; it deserves to breathe and hold memories," Luca thought. With this conviction in mind, he merged "Stone" (the essence of his craft) with "Muse" (the inspiration behind each piece) to name his brand: Stonemuse. In his first three years, he and his team traveled to quarries around the world—from marble veins in Greece to granite beds in Norway—selecting only stones with unique textures and enduring durability. Each piece of stone undergoes 72 hours of hand-cutting and 12 rounds of meticulous polishing; even the curvature of the edges is repeatedly adjusted to ensure a warm, rather than sharp, feel.

In 2005, Stonemuse's debut collection, "Timeline," dazzled Milan Design Week. The tabletops retain the stone's natural cracks and are meticulously carved with silver filigree, seemingly embellishing the traces of time. The legs mimic the grain of tree trunks, softening the stone's hardness with a natural touch. This collection redefined people's perception of stone and made Stonemuse synonymous with "humanistic stone craftsmanship."

Today, Stonemuse's creations have expanded beyond home decor to encompass spatial design: the stone walls of a Manhattan boutique hotel change color with the sun, while the stone tea trays of a Kyoto teahouse absorb moisture and retain warmth. But one thing remains constant: each piece of stone is labeled with its origin and the name of the craftsman, and each piece carries the original mission: "Let the stone tell a story."

From the quarries of Tuscany to every corner of the world, Stonemuse believes that great stone craftsmanship is not about conquering nature, but about blending with time. Because every stone, with careful care, becomes a tangible history - a history that lasts and speaks.
